This Glossary is different from many others:  It’s “deeper”.  Of course, it has understandable definitions of computer terms, like what’s “skeutomorphic” or “LAMP”.  And tons of cross-references to helpful FAQs, TIPS and HOW-TOs.  My mind works by asking curious questions that I need answered:  Why did someone name their creation Hadoop or Zygbee or Yelp?  And who were the people who started these things, like the Internet or Twitter or Pantone?  Who created the first icon (Susan Kare) or the Android logo (Irina Blok) and what do they look like (see the NAMES page)?  Who coined the term “cyber”space and why (William Gibson in Neuromancer)?  How did the “@” symbol get in e-mail addresses? Why was the Melissa virus so named (after a prostitute?)? Plus, more complete explanations (see the ARTICLES page) about complex issues like Bitcoins, The Singularity, the extent of privacy on the Internet and your social networking sites, what cables and connectors look like and how viruses and spyware work.  There’s lots more than you might expect...
